Shifting Your Risks

Just heard a sad story from my client about his friend being retrenched from job recently. What makes it worse is that he was diagnosed with lung cancer two days after receiving the earlier news from the Company.

What it means to him in life at this stage? The entire world crashing down onto him!

He has two kids, a year old and the other 4 weeks old. A mortgage loan not paid off. Wife not working, a loving homemaker. A car bought 9 months back to ferry the kids through & fro childcare centre. Credit facilities still servicing to pay off for the expenses incurred through grocery and lifestyle shopping. Bills increased because of the treatements he received for a chance to recover from Stage 1 of his lung cancer. Traumatized by the ailment and treatments, he is on medical leave to recuperate.

Questions in mind - WILL MY COMPANY BE SO KIND ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND MY CURRENT SITUATION AND ALLOW MY FREQUENT ABSENCE FROM WORK? WILL THIS FINALLY LEAD TO A DAY WHERE I WILL BE UNABLE TO GO TO WORK AND FINANCIALLY, WHO IS ABLE TO PROVIDE FOR THE FAMILY?

His only regret today? Not having taken advices from his financial planner by shifting his risks to the insurers and take up more insurance coverage that will come in great help in such crisis time.....
